Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Hinton, Grande Cache, Whitecourt, Edson, Fox Creek and Swan Hills. Heavy snow ending this morning. 10 to 15 centimetres of new snow expected by Tuesday morning. A storm system delivered up to 15 centimetres of snow during the overnight hours to portions of the Grande Cache region and areas around the Swan Hills. This system will move quickly into Saskatchewan today but will be followed by another storm system moving in from Central British Columbia. 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected again over the Hinton/Grande Cache region and portions of the Edson region by Tuesday morning.

Please be advised the Lethbridge RCMP is issuing a Travel advisory for the Lethbridge Surrounding Area. Blowing Snow is creating zero visibility conditions and the highways are becoming icy and hazardous. Multiple collisions have already taken place this morning and Police are encouraging motorists on the Lethbridge area highways to not travel. If you must travel, please drive to the conditions, ensure your headlights are on and increase your stopping distances. Bring warm winter gear in case of problems and increase your spacing between vehicles to ensure you have enough room to react should something unexpected happen. Wind and blowing snow is expected to drop off by tomorrow.

Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow and wind warning for : Brooks - Strathmore – Vulcan- Medicine Hat - Bow Island – Suffield- Crowsnest Pass - Pincher Creek - Waterton Lakes Nat. Park-Cardston - Fort Macleod – Magrath-Lethbridge - Taber - Milk River-Cypress Hills Provincial Park – Foremost areas. Blowing snow with visibilities frequently less than one kilometre this morning. Strong westerly winds of 80 km/h with gusts up to 110 have developed early this morning in Southwestern Alberta. Due to recent snowfall these strong winds will also produce blowing snow with visibilities frequently less than one kilometre. Conditions will gradually improve this afternoon as winds diminish.

Repair work is underway on the Pembina River Bridge located on Highway 621, in Brazeau County; 19 Kilometers Northwest of Drayton Valley. Travel on the bridge has been reduced to one lane alternating traffic until at least the end of February 2014 and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h. Travelers should expect less than 5 minutes delay to their traffic plans. The bridge width will be reduced to 6 meters. Oversized loads please use alternate routes.

Highway 590 over Red Deer River, 18 km West of Big Valley - single lane structure will be closed for deck repairs during the hours of 7:30am and 6:00pm from December 16, 2013 to December 18, 2013. Each evening after 6:00pm the structure will be re-opened to traffic. Signage will be erected on December 11, 2013 by Contractor to inform local residents of the closure.

Road Breakup. road closed: Use highway 2 and highway 683. Highway 744 from the corporate limits of the Town of Peace River to the top of Judah Hill is closed due to an active land slide. Repair work is advanced and subject to environmental factors and weather conditions.

Highway 532 from Forestry Trunk road to Johnson Creek Bridge remains closed due to the damage occurred during flooding. Consultants and Engineers are continuing to assess the damage. However subject to addressing environmental concerns, safety matters, construction and weather issues , this route will reopen to the public in or around mid-November 2013.
